Creating a more connected and accessible digital learning experience for teachers and students.
The need
My Independent School recognised the need to digitise subject units, resources and assessments through a Learning Management System (LMS).
With much of the existing content paper-based or stored in different locations, finding, managing and updating materials was challenging.
The goal was to create a more consistent, engaging and easy-to-navigate digital learning environment that supported both teachers and students.
The solution
A structured Canvas LMS environment designed around the needs of teachers and students, with digitised learning units, consistent course templates, accessible resources and assessment tools organised in one place.
The implementation was staged over a year, allowing time for collaboration, feedback and professional development to help staff confidently adopt the new approach.
The process
Build platform expertise
Completed Canvas Admin Setup 1, 2 and 3, Canvas Fundamentals 1 and 2, and Canvas Studio training to develop the technical knowledge needed to configure the LMS, design effective courses and support staff through implementation.
Listen and understand
Collaborated with staff and students to understand their needs, concerns and ideas.
Design and organise
Digitised subject content and created consistent templates to make units easier to navigate.
Configure Canvas LMS
Set up course modules, assessment uploads, marking guides and relevant platform settings.
Review and refine
Worked with teaching and leadership staff to review drafts and gather feedback.
Support the transition
Staged the implementation and provided professional development to help staff build confidence using the new system.

The outcome

By involving teachers and students throughout the design process and supporting staff with professional development, the implementation was designed to make resources easier to access, simplify course navigation and support a smoother transition to digital learning.
